A head-on collision between two vehicles on the TF-5 motorway has left a man and a woman injured this afternoon (Tuesday) in the municipality of San Juan de la Rambla, according to reports by the emergency services.
The crash occurred at kilometre 65 of the TF-5, the busiest road in the north of Tenerife. The injured parties, a 70-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman, both sustained moderate injuries and had to be rescued by firefighters after becoming trapped inside their respective cars.
The man was taken to Hospiten Bellevue Hospital with injuries to both his arms and legs, while the woman was transferred to the Hospital Universitario de Canarias with injuries to her arms for further treatment.
The incident led sto everal emergency resources being dispatched, including SUC medical personnel, two advanced life-support ambulances and one basic support unit. The Guardia Civil and the Highways Department also attended the scene to assist with traffic control and road clearance.
This latest accident comes just two weeks after another serious collision occurred on the same road, near Icod de Los Vinos, where six people were injured. That section of the TF-5 had also been reduced to one lane in each direction at the time, raising ongoing concerns about road safety and traffic conditions on this key road on the island.
